Who Doesn’t Love a Coffee Shop?

The drink, the food, the atmosphere… our team loves their coffee shops and sometimes, just to keep the creative juices flowing we’ll work from a coffee shop for a few hours.

We asked our team members to tell us about their favorite coffee shops in Jacksonville and this is what they said:

For Jeff, It’s Southern Grounds

“Their tagline is “gather together,” and it does feel like everyone can find a home there, from college kids studying, to business people meeting, to moms and kids, and retired people.

It’s more than a coffee shop, it’s modeled off a European Cafe. There are no freezers or microwaves. There’s a curated wine and bubbly list as well as draft and bottled beer. The outside courtyard is simply beautiful. Inside is quite cozy too. It feels like it’s for everyone.”

Jared Likes Bold Bean

“The coffee there is truly extraordinary. I ran the morning shift there for years and traveled to major cities like New York, Portland, and Boston and I feel that Bold Bean has the best cup of coffee.

The vibe is like a chill hipster vibe. Lots of young creatives from late teens to adults early in their career. They have beer and wine as well.  I go there when I need to focus, yet want a social environment.” Check them out here.

Zak Loves Kookaburra

“Zak says that they have a good amount of signature drinks that are killer and each location is bright and colorful. I would frequent Kookaburra close to equal as Bold Bean if one was located here in Jax.” Find out more about The Kookaburra here.

Can’t Get To the Coffee Shop? There’s An App For That

Don’t laugh, but there’s some evidence that suggests that working to the sounds of a coffee shop will make you more productive. Apparently, the noise level in an average coffee shop is about 70 db which provides the ideal background sound level to stimulate productivity and creativity. Check out Coffitivity.com and their different kinds of coffee shop sounds to work to. You can download the app here.

On their website, they state that: “According to a peer-reviewed study out of the University of Chicago, “A moderate level of ambient noise is conducive to creative cognition.” In a nutshell, this means being a tiny bit distracted helps you be more creative. This is why those AHA moments happen when we’re brushing our teeth, taking a shower, or mowing the lawn! If we’re not focused too much at a task at hand, we come up with awesome stuff. In the coffee shop, the chatter and clatter actually distract us a tiny bit and allows our creative juices to start flowing. It sounds crazy, but it works!”
